The Teach tab: everything for one session, in one place
In a class, open Sessions → Teach. This tab defaults to today's session (or the next upcoming one) and groups four things a teacher does during class time: attendance, quick grading, calling on a random student, and building a session report to send to parents. No jumping between screens while you're teaching — it works well on a phone too.
Three ways to take attendance
- Mark it by hand in the Teach tab. Check off each student present (or Select all then uncheck who's absent), then click Save attendance. The counter Attendance · 25/30 updates instantly. You can add a private note for this student, saved alongside attendance and shown in the parent report.
- Students scan a QR code themselves. In Sessions → Attendance, pick the session and click Scan QR to check in: a large QR code appears on the class screen, refreshing every N seconds as you set. Students open their camera app or the class page on their phone, scan it, and are marked present with a timestamp. Because the code keeps changing, a screenshot sent to an absent friend won't work.
- A per-session attendance grid. Also in the Attendance tab: a table of students × sessions, mark Present/Absent, make retroactive corrections, Lock a finalized session so nobody edits it by mistake, and Unlock when needed.
Quick session grading and merit points
Next to each student's name in the Teach tab are four quick-grade chips: ⭐ Engaged, 🗣️ Spoke up, 😴 Distracted, ⚠️ Warned. Tap to add one, tap the number or − to remove one if you tapped by mistake. A great answer from one student? Tap once; the whole class did well? Check Whole class and tap a chip. There's also a private note field under each student that saves with attendance and shows in the parent report. Session scores accumulate into the weekly score shown in the weekly report.
For a bigger reward or a more serious warning, use Results → Merit Points: enter a positive number to reward or negative to deduct, with a Reason; the Point History keeps a record of who added it and when. Merit points show up in the student's profile and the weekly report.
Call on random picks one student from those marked present to answer — the button sits right in the Teach tab, so there's no need to prepare popsicle sticks.
Sending a session report to parents
At the end of class, click Build session report. The system drafts, for every student marked present or with a note, a short report from that session's real numbers: present or absent, quick-grading taps, the teacher's private note, and the weekly score so far. The write-up is built from a template and the data, never from AI, so it doesn't use credit and never makes anything up.
- Review and edit each one. Every student has a pre-filled note ("Today your child was present and was recognized for engagement 2 times…"); edit it right there, add a personal note. Editing a report approves it. Click Back to grading if you want to go back and adjust attendance or scores.
- Send. Send to parents pushes the approved reports through the center's channels: email, plus an in-app notification for the student. The result shows "Sent 28 of 30"; any that couldn't be sent (missing email) list the reason so you can fix it.
- Parents open the report through their own link, no sign-in or app install needed: attendance, notes, session score, and weekly score for their child.
Schedule and session status
- Recurring schedule: day of the week, time, start date, end date, room → Generate sessions. Add a one-off session with Add session.
- Every session has a status of Scheduled · Held · Canceled, a title, notes, and its own meeting link. A canceled session isn't billed under per-session tuition.
- Students and parents see Next session on the class page; schedule reminders go out through the center's messaging channel.
Where does attendance data go?
- Student profile: the Attendance tab in a profile shows present/absent by class; overall attendance feeds the weekly report.
- Tuition: a class billed Per session only counts sessions attended (unless Bill for absent sessions is on); the monthly invoice is calculated straight from attendance, with nothing re-entered.
- Center reports: the Reports menu rolls up sessions checked in, students needing attention (frequent absences), and classes currently running.
- Transparent record-keeping: a clear roster, session log, and tuition history you can export whenever a parent or administrator asks for it.

Frequently asked questions
How do students without a phone check in with QR?
The teacher marks attendance by hand in the Teach tab: tap the name of each student present, then Save attendance — under a minute for a class of 30. Both methods work side by side in the same session.
Can a student send a photo of the QR code to a friend at home to check in for them?
The QR code on the class screen refreshes every few seconds (the teacher sets the interval), so an old code stops working immediately and a screenshot is useless. The teacher can still see the live list of who just checked in to double-check.
Is the session report written by AI?
No. The write-up is built from real numbers for that session: present or absent, quick-grading taps, the teacher's private notes, and the running weekly score. The teacher edits the text before sending. Since it never calls AI, it doesn't use credit.
How do parents receive the report?
By email when one is on file, and always as an in-app notification for the student's account. Each report has its own link that opens without signing in.
Does a session score affect tuition?
A session score is only for recognition and feedback. Per-session tuition is driven by attendance: a class billed by session only charges for sessions actually attended, unless Bill for absent sessions is turned on.
